joy Thank you everyone...this is a beautiful forum and you are so kind. I am a stay home wife (these days) and Mom to many pets. I have 5  parakeets,4 turtles,4 tortoises,3 cats and my Chaka. We are going to find him a girlfriend/pup this spring and I can't wait! I am counting the hours. We adopted him at 4 months. He is SO playful and energetic...I know they will have so much fun together. ;)They are such fantastic adorable dogs..I can't wait to raise a baby girl from very little!

Yes! It is so hard to wait! My husband has promised though, and we want to have an addition on our house by then so the little one can have her space away from Chaka (and cats) when need be till she grows up some. I will post some pics of some of the other pets on the proper topic thread asap. Chaka helps me take care of them...he is so cute. The cats go out during the day and in the evening he goes and finds them and gets them in the house. ;)and if the turtles are out of their houses and roaming in the floor he will find them for me and we will put them up for the night. I never knew how smart Shih Tzu's are!!
Oh,as for the color it will probably be the same...if we can find the right one. actually I have a question about that if you could tell me. If you have a black and white and breed it with a blonde will the pups be either one,or..would the colors get all mixed up?

joy Yes they are real easy to keep.. I feed them early in the morning..usually
turnip greens, collards tomatoes and softened pellet tortoise food, They just need  (if kept indoors)
UVB/UVA lighting for a few hours a day and a little hide box and water bowl. I saw him hatch and he just crawled right out of the shell all perfect and sweet and looked around! It was amazing. I have an adult male and female outside in a large enclosure. I just found two more eggs in the dirt in there so I guess the little one will have company soon. cheers

They never get very big...about 6 inches long usually. Yes they are a joy to have in my life. I love watching them! We have very warm weather almost year round here and we live in a woodsy area on some property. So I collect leaves, sticks, logs, rocks and whatever makes them feel comfortable, along with a small swimming pool they can play in,and they seem real happy. They love to climb around and sit and bask in the sun. They will eat earth worms, and other things out of my hand.
I only have a pic of my male right now...need to download some later from my camera, and I'll post some others. This one's name is Willis...he is a real sweetheart! joy (He's sitting on a ceramic tortoise, basking)

Here's one of my Sulcata Tortoise...he will get very big but right now he's about 12 inches. His name is Stoney.

yes   Me too! All God's creatures are precious IMO! I especially love turtles because they are so gentle and are one of the oldest beings on the planet...they supposedly lived since dinosaurs! They live off the weather and the land..when its under 40 degrees they will find a place to dig in and shut down(hibernate)...not eat or move until spring. In the spring they eat a lot to store up. So glad you enjoyed seeing mine! cheers  I'll post more later on... Wink
