Re: Welcome bluedaisy
gracie ate poo right after she came to live with us and she got spayed.
after her hormones settled down and she was comfy here, she no longer does it. We used pos. reinforcement and "Forbid" and within a couple mnths, I had to start pooper scoopin the yard!
now she poops, turns and smells it, I blow the whistle, and she comes running to me instead of tasting the poo. She is SUCH a good girl

Re: Welcome bluedaisy
thanks, I try.
reading about mulch, says it's organic...
black platinum mulch.
don't know...
also checking out some dog foods. there are so many,
there is one called Lifes Abundance that sounds interesting.
I just hate buying the stuff then giving it away if Gracie doesn't do well on it.
hubby says I should just buy some cheap stuff and let her be a dog. he remembers the days when nobody vaccinated their dogs and just fed dog chow and the dogs lived to be 15....

Re: Welcome bluedaisy
I know my shids love vegetables, raw or cooked. Also they devour chicken and boiled rice. Maybe you could come up with your own food, based on meat and veg?
I had a Jack Russell once, and I tried her on cheap tinned food, and she turned her nose up at it. Apart from not being nutritionally good, it was not very tasty for her.
My two now are quite fussy, I've tried a lot of foods before finding ones they like to eat.
Since Gracie has tummy probs, and she hasn't been sick today, maybe the cottage cheese is doing her some good. So you just need to maybe find a dry food, not so rich, and give her the cottage cheese too. Does she like veggies? She could have a portion of veggies each day too maybe? It's all trial and error with dogs, finding things they enjoy, and does them good.

Re: Welcome bluedaisy
I know the cottage cheese is helpful for humans when they have ulcers. That's why I gave it to her. And it does seem to help her.
Doing an ingredient check on her food, the Iams Lamb and Rice for sensitive systems, what she is on now- the first five ing. are Lamb Meal, brewers rice, corn meal, whole grain sorghum, and corn grits.
Breeder's Choice makes a couple different foods, that don't have garbage in them.
Also, Life's Abundance has a food that the first five ing. are chiken meal, brown rice, brown rice crushed, chicken fat, dried beet pulp.
Seems like she was itchy on the Iam's chicken formula, but I have to check and see if it's got rice.
I don't know....arghhhh!
if I cook for the dog, I will be chained to the stove cause i'll have to cook for the hubby too. oh well...
